In Memorium: Mike Dunham

Mike Dunham, 69, co-owner and founder of Walla Walla’s Dunham Cellars passed away on May 18.

Along with his son, Eric, Mike opened one of the Walla Walla area’s earliest wineries in 1997. He retired from his “second job” in the insurance industry in 2001 to became general manager of the winery on a full-time basis.

My encounters with Mike at the Walla Walla tasting room were brief, but memorable. He was personable and helpful and over the years his winery turned out some really great wine.

Here’s to you Mike, and thank you for your contributions to the Washington wine industry.
