Tucker Cellars Makes Great Summertime Wines

According to the calendar, there’s still a few more weeks of summer to enjoy. And as Pacific Northwesterners, we fully intend to take advantage of the end of the season by cramming it full with as many barbeques, picnics and outdoor activities as possible.

A glass of chilled wine always seems fitting for a late summer day, and it can be served as a terrific complement to a variety of foods such as fried chicken, pasta salads and fresh fruit.

nullTucker Cellars, located in Washington’s Yakima Valley, currently offers a trio of well-priced wines that are simply perfect for summertime sipping.

The 2005 Gewürztraminer (about $9) is crisp and light with some nice granny smith apple and pear flavors. The wine was awarded a silver medal at this year’s Central Washington State Fair wine competition.

The 2005 Muscat Canelli (about $10) is highlighted by the varietal’s signature floral aromas followed by some surprising citrus flavors and a slightly honey-like finish.

The aptly named 2005 Indian Summer Pinot Noir Rose (about $9) is a wonderful wine for summer or any other time of year. If you like your Rose’s lean and dry, forget it. This one is packed with luscious melon and nectarine flavors with a bit of sweetness on the finish.

Tucker Cellars wines are available at the Ferndale and Mount Vernon Haggen stores and you may be able to special order them at other local grocers. You can also enjoy them at Anthony’s restaurants or they can be ordered online at www.tuckercellars.com.
