Barbera

Cascade Cliffs 2003 (about $17): One thing I like about this winery is that they’re not afraid to use types of grapes that youwon’t usually find in the mainstream. For whites, they’ve previously produced a delicious wine using the Symphony grape and for this red wine recommendation, the Barbera. This is a great little red […]

Pinot Noir

Eola Hills Winery 2004 (about $12): A little more full-bodied than the Pinots you might be used to, I considered this a to be a plus when I recently tried this newer release from Oregon. Bright cherry and cranberry flavors are the highlight of a wine that tastes so good, you’ll swear it costs much […]

Semillon

Northstar Winery 2004 (about $20): Taking a cue from public demand, Northstar Winery in Walla Walla has now begun producing small quantities of Semillon under its “Stella Blanca” label. This is one of the better Semillons I’ve tried as of late, and barrel fermentation in new French oak is part of the reason. This process […]

Nebbiolo

Wilridge Winery 2002 (about $25): I tried this little gem at the Zephyr Bistro near the Hotel Bellwether. The grapes are grown in the highly acclaimed Klipsun Vineyards in Washington’s Red Mountian appellation. It’s a lighter style red with hints of spice and bright red currant and cherry flavors. Outstanding!
