{"id":5346,"date":"2022-03-30T10:20:39","date_gmt":"2022-03-30T17:20:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/danthewineguy.com.dream.website\/?p=5346"},"modified":"2022-04-05T21:45:06","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T04:45:06","slug":"at-lake-chelans-succession-wines-your-tasting-experience-means-everything","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/?p=5346","title":{"rendered":"At Lake Chelan&#8217;s Succession Wines Your Tasting Experience Means Everything"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong><em>This article originally appeared in the April, 2022 issue of Bellingham Alive Magazine<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At Succession Wines, located on the north shore of picturesque Lake Chelan, husband-and-wife owners Brock and Erica Lindsay make it a priority to provide their guests with a first-class wine tasting experience.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cWe take a three-tiered approach,\u201d notes Brock; \u201cExcellent wines, excellent venue, and excellent customer service.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cBut it all starts with an exceptional product,\u201d he says, \u201cand we\u2019re fortunate that we\u2019re able to source from some of the best vineyards in the state as well as growing what we think is some of the best fruit in the state.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5350 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/52776-559x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"458\" \/><br \/>\r\n<figcaption><em>Erica &amp; Brock Lindsay of Succession<\/em><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Erica is a 2005 graduate of Western Washington University while Brock graduated from Montana State. The couple met in Seattle and initially lived near the Eastern Washington town of Brewster, where they incorporated Succession Wines in 2015. A year later, they broke ground on their Lake Chelan tasting room just outside the community of Manson and moved there permanently with their two daughters in 2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>One step onto the winery grounds and visitors quickly realize they\u2019re in for something special.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cWe equate a visit to the winery as being a guest in our home,\u201d adds Erica, \u201cand we have a team that thinks that way as well. They\u2019re excited to be there and they\u2019re excited to meet our guests.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cOur tasting room is nestled in the middle of our estate vineyard overlooking Lake Chelan,\u201d says Brock. \u201cIt\u2019s an indoor\/outdoor experience with sweeping views of the lake and the mountains.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re also a \u2018working winery,\u2019\u201d he adds, meaning that the crushing, fermentation, and storage and barrel-aging of the wines all takes place at the same facility. The proximity of the production process to the tasting room encourages visitors to view and ask questions about the wines the Lindsays and their winemaking staff are working on.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Brock notes that he uses a cooler fermentation method that often results in \u201cwines that are compared to French-style wines that are nuanced and balanced and somewhat \u2018feminine\u2019 in approach. We\u2019re not trying to overpower with tannins.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cIn the simplest terms, it\u2019s about allowing the fruit to show through rather than convoluting it with too strong of an (oak) barrel program,\u201d adds Erica.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The end result is a stunning selection of delicious choices for wine enthusiasts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\">\r\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5351\" src=\"https:\/\/danthewineguy.com.dream.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/MAX_2086-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"561\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/MAX_2086-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/MAX_2086-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/MAX_2086-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/MAX_2086-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/MAX_2086-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.danthewineguy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/MAX_2086-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 561px) 100vw, 561px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are on the current list of red wines. \u201cAnd we really have a lot of fun working with Syrah,\u201d says Brock. \u201cWe grow it on the estate and make our ros\u00e9 out of it\u201d (which is so popular, it typically sells out in June after its early spring release).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Lindsays are also excited about their upcoming whites, especially Erica, a confirmed white wine fanatic. They include an Antoine Creek Vineyard Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and a blend under the \u201cOur Evolution\u201d label which is a perennial customer favorite. Brock notes that these are all dry white wines that feature beautiful aromatics without the sugar.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Lindsays also make it a point to provide their visitors with an unpretentious wine tasting experience that they say is equal parts educational and fun.
