Vancouver Wine Festival Offers Wine Drinkers Diverse Choices

This year’s Vancouver International Wine Festival focused on wineries from British Columbia and Canada and highlighted a wide-ranging array of choices from this relatively new wine-producing country.

Both Western and Eastern British Columbia do a number of wines particularly well, with white varietals the clear-cut leader in terms of quality and variety.

I attended both a BC seminar and the International Festival Tasting and here is a short list of some of my favorites:

50th Parallel Estate 2014 Chardonnay
Cedarcreek Estate Winery 2014 Platinum Block 4 Chardonnay
Gehringer Brothers Estate Winery 2015 Private Reserve Riesling
Gold Hill 2014 Charisma White
Howling Bluff Estate Winery 2015 Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon
Laughing Stock Vineyards 2014 Portfolio & 2014 Perfect Hedge Syrah
Sandhill 2015 Small Lots Viognier
Sperling Vineyards 2013 Old Vines Riesling
